Taylor Swift delighted fans on Thursday in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, during her second of three sold-out Eras Tour performances, showcasing both her musical talent and playful spirit.
In a memorable moment at the Veltins Arena, Swift, 34, lightened the usually solemn "Midnight Rain" by sticking out her tongue and flashing double peace signs after singing the lines, "he never thinks of me / except when I'm on TV."
Swift's boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, attended the shows on July 17 and 18, likely his last before returning to Missouri for training camp on July 21. As is her tradition when Kelce is present, Swift gave him a special mention during "Karma," altering the lyrics to "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs / coming straight home to me."
Swift is set to perform her third show in Gelsenkirchen on Friday night before moving on to other cities in Germany later in the month.
In a unique tribute, Gelsenkirchen temporarily renamed itself "Swiftkirchen" following a successful petition by a local fan. The city also made an exception to its rule that only local personalities are honored on the Gelsenkirchen Walk of Fame, dedicating a colorful tile to Swift. However, fans eager to take a photo with the tile need to act fast, as it will be replaced with a blank one after Swift leaves for her next tour destination.
The "All Too Well" singer will continue her Eras Tour in Germany with stops in Hamburg on July 23 and 24, and Munich on July 27 and 28. Swift will conclude the European leg of her tour in August with five nights at Wembley Stadium in London.
