In her father M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie, the 27-year-old actress takes on a role reminiscent of Taylor Swift.
At the New York City premiere of her father’s latest film, *Trap*, director M. Night Shyamalan’s eldest daughter, Saleka, shared some striking opinions on Taylor Swift.
Saleka Shyamalan portrays Lady Raven, a pop star whose concert serves as the backdrop for the film’s plot. The movie, which also stars Josh Hartnett, centers around a father who takes his daughter to see Lady Raven, on the same night the police attempt to trap a serial killer at the show, as depicted in the trailers.
Speaking to People on the red carpet at Alice Tully Hall on July 24, Saleka revealed that Taylor Swift was a frequent topic on the set of "Trap". “We discussed Taylor Swift a lot and how she’s such a powerful businesswoman and CEO,” the 27-year-old said, highlighting Swift’s influence as “an aspiration for women.”
Saleka further elaborated to the magazine, noting that Swift is “more than just a singer and entertainer—she’s a boss.” This perception of Swift as a multifaceted leader was a significant consideration for the actress during the filming process.
M. Night Shyamalan previously mentioned that Taylor Swift’s concerts inspired *Trap*. In a recent interview with Empire, the director described the movie as, “What if *The Silence of the Lambs* took place at a Taylor Swift concert?”
Shyamalan also emphasized the importance of the concert scenes in the film, suggesting that this unique element would attract audiences. As he told Empire, “There’s literally a real concert that you can only experience in this movie.”
"Trap"is set to hit theaters on August 2.
