Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show: What to Expect from the Rap Icon's Epic Performance

Sep 09, 2024

Get ready for an unforgettable Super Bowl halftime show in 2025! Kendrick Lamar is officially set to headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime performance, marking a historic moment in his career. This exciting news has been confirmed by Apple Music, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Lamar himself, who will take the stage on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans—just three years after his standout appearance in Dr. Dre's iconic 2022 halftime show.

"Rap music continues to be the most powerful genre today," Lamar shared. "I’m here to remind the world why. They chose the right one."

Lamar also teased his fans with a dramatic video on social media, where he stands in front of a massive American flag on a football field. In the clip, he says, "My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I'll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Are you showing up? I hope so."

He adds, "You only get one shot at a championship—no do-overs. Let's make it count."

This performance will be the sixth consecutive year that Jay-Z's Roc Nation has curated the halftime show. Jay-Z himself praised Lamar’s artistry, saying, "Kendrick Lamar is a once-in-a-generation talent. His passion for hip-hop and culture shapes his artistry, and his influence spans the globe. His work goes beyond music, leaving an impact that will be felt for years."

Lamar’s halftime show appearance comes after a massive year of success. His recent chart-toppers, "Not Like Us" and "Like That," featuring Future and Metro Boomin, have dominated the Billboard Hot 100. He also stirred up headlines after winning his public rap battle with Drake, where the two exchanged fiery diss tracks.

Kendrick Lamar has been a force in the music industry since his 2011 mixtape Section.80. His 2017 album, DAMN, earned him 17 Grammy Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Music, making him the first non-classical, non-jazz artist to win the prestigious accolade.

Though Lamar appeared on the Super Bowl stage in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem, this will be his first time headlining the halftime show. His upcoming performance is already generating buzz and anticipation, especially considering the record-breaking success of last year’s show, headlined by Usher, which not only earned three Emmy nominations but also became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history.

Apple Music is sponsoring the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, which will take place at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and air on Fox on February 9. Don’t miss out on what’s sure to be an epic performance by one of the greatest rappers of our time!
