Elisabeth Moss is embracing a new chapter in her life, and it's not just about motherhood – it's about bringing her child to the set of The Handmaid's Tale.

In a recent interview with Business Insider, the 41-year-old actress expressed her excitement. "I think it'll be absolutely lovely," she gushed. "It'll definitely add a whole new layer to life, and I'm sure that will translate to my performance as June and the show itself."

While acknowledging the unknown ("Time will tell," she mused), Moss is confident about the positive impact motherhood will have. "It's bound to affect everything," she said, "but that's a good thing."

The good news extends to the set itself. "We're already accustomed to having babies, moms, and dads around," Moss explained. "It's a very family-friendly environment, so I don't anticipate any major adjustments."

Moss is gearing up for a monumental summer – not only will she be welcoming her first child, but she'll also be diving into filming the final season of The Handmaid's Tale. The dystopian drama, inspired by Margaret Atwood's chilling novel, takes place in a world grappling with low birth rates, where women like Moss' character Offred are forced to become handmaids – vessels for procreation.

The series, which debuted in 2017, has become a cultural phenomenon, and its conclusion this summer promises to be a momentous occasion.

Moss' pregnancy announcement itself was a memorable moment. During a January appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the playful host joked, "Are you pregnant or just an incredibly committed method actor?" to which Moss, with a sly smile, replied, "A little bit of both."

Thankfully, her pregnancy journey has been smooth sailing. When Kimmel inquired about her well-being, Moss happily confirmed, "Not bad! I've been incredibly lucky – it's been going really well." It seems motherhood and the final season of The Handmaid's Tale are shaping up to be an exciting, dual act for the talented actress.

Since her separation from Fred Armisen in 2010, Moss has kept her love life private. (Moss and Armisen, 57, were married in October 2009 but separated in June 2010. Their divorce was finalized in May 2011.)

Long before welcoming her own child, Elisabeth Moss harbored a desire for motherhood. "Absolutely," she declared in a 2018 interview with Marie Claire UK, "I do want to be a mother." The idea of passing on the lessons and love she received from her own mother, Linda Moss, resonated deeply.

However, Moss acknowledged the complexities of juggling a career and family life. "It's definitely not for everyone," she mused, "but lately, I think it is [for me]." The challenge, though, remained unclear. "I have no idea how to make it happen," she confessed, "or what the plan even is."

Time, it seemed, was a precious commodity. Her intense dedication to her work left little room for romance. "It's difficult to find time to give yourself to someone," she admitted.

Years passed, and Moss's commitment to motherhood remained. She was "definitely" still on the path to parenthood, she confirmed, and her mother continued to be an inspiration. However, her signature humor shone through during a 2022 interview with You magazine. When discussing the practicalities of raising a child, she quipped, "Maybe I'll just hand the baby over to Mom – she'd do an amazing job!"
